Today we had a silent debate on the upcoming bills in the Utah State Legislature.

The follow up assignment was to choose one of the bills you are passionate about and email your Representative or Senator with your opinion on why he/she should or should not vote to pass the bill.

Under the assignments section, click on  "2011 Bills" to find articles describing each one. All of the articles are under this document, so look at more than just the first one. Here is a link to that assignment sheet: THE LINK

In order to find out who your Representative is, check out this website.Click "find your Legislator" at the top. Click the Roster link to find their information.

Our Senator (for those who live by Timpview is) Kurt Bramble. This website has a list of senators and their information.

***You must have your email approved by me before you send it!!

TIP: don't say "I'm a student at Timpview" etc. Just present yourself as a concerned citizen. They don't need to know you are a student; all that matters is that you are a citizen of the State of Utah and that this bill will affect your life!!!

Opportunity to Participate in Your Government!

Provo city is proposing to put a stoplight in at the 4 way stop at the corner of Timpview High/Edgemont Elementary on Timpview drive.

The city wants to know if the neighborhood is in support of this or not.  The area does qualify under state code to have a stop light put in.

ONE idea was to have the light flashing red for a 4 way stop and have it activated during the school rush/busy times....

If you have a strong opinion about this, email Bonnie Morrow, the North Timpview Neighborhood Chair, at brianmorrow3@comcast.net

We'll talk about it in class, tomorrow.
